Parent CommunitySeasonal celebrations, parental involvement, and home visits encourage the individual families at Eastern Sun Academy to come together as a delightful community. We request parents' involvement in the school because of the enrichment it brings to the children's lives and the many ways in which it deepens the learning environment. In our busy, fragmented world, a sense of community is increasingly precious. When children see their parents take an active role in their school, they feel a greater sense of the value of their place in this community. Practically speaking, we rely on parents' help to accomplish things that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to do. This includes participating in school festivals and celebrations, parent-teacher conferences and community meetings, supporting environment work and fundraising. Of far more importance, however, is the sense of community created when everyone gets involved in the relationships, work and play that make up the children's lives and ours. This gives the children a vivid experience of how many individuals with all sorts of differences can come together to form a whole. When parents find and create a personal connection to the community of Eastern Sun Academy, this becomes a living example for the students themselves. |
